When it comes to immigration and information about yourself and your children. PAUSD staff will not share any information about your child or allow access to them by immigration officers on school grounds without your consent and without a signed court order or warrant, in line with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). All staff are being trained, and you will be notified if any requests are made involving your child. Remember that wellness centers are open, staff therapists and psychologists are available to support you and your family, and your PTA is also here to support families.

Create a safety plan. Carry or print a “red card” to indicate you are within your rights or to share with others (https://www.ilrc.org/red-cards-tarjetas-rojas).

Reach out to your school’s Student and Family Engagement (SAFE) specialist for further support, talks and more. Reach out to your principal to learn more.

Want to support other families? Consider offering childcare, being an emergency contact for those whose children you know well,  and sharing these resources below. Write to your local officials to show your support for immigrant families. One of the best things you can do is to be a friend and listen with compassion.
