aka Grade Social Parents, Parent Network Coordinators
Roles and responsibilities:
* Plan grade-level social events for students and families or parents-only
* One event is usually for Back To School and one is in the Spring.
Reserving Space
If held inside a School (e.g. MultiPurpose Room), please maintain good communication with the Staff, particularly the Custodians, to be sure all events follow school guidelines. If your campus requires a permit, please ask your PTA President to get one via Facilitron.
If held on school grounds, outside, during non-school hours (e.g. Sunday afternoon on the playground), no permit/reservation is required. Please note that bathrooms are not open/available when the school is closed.
If held at a local park, no permit/reservation is required by the City of Palo Alto. Organizers may need to arrive early to stake out a space. https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/Departments/Community-Services/Open-Space-Parks/Neighborhood-Parks
Palo Alto Parks with Restrooms: https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/Departments/Public-Works/Engineering-Services/Engineering-Projects/Palo-Alto-Community-Restroom-Facility
If held at one of the Community Centers, reservations may be made with the City of Palo Alto.
Another alternative is that a parent may step forward to host an event at their home.
INVITATIONS
Post invitations for your social event through closed PTA channels, e.g. the eNews. ParentSquare has capability to collect RSVPs and for parents to sign up to bring things for a potluck. Alternatively, evite and google sheet sign ups are also popular.
