A Google Doc has been shared to my non-gmail account
[NOTE: Email accounts for paloaltopta.org are gmail accounts.]
What Can I Do?
(1) If you already have a gmail account and you would prefer to use it, then you can simply click on the document and a new tab will open in your browser.
If you are not logged in to your gmail account, Google will prompt you to login.
Once you are logged in to your gmail account, then the Google Doc may simply appear.
However it is more likely that you will receive the Google Drive message, “You need permission”, click Request access that the owner will receive an email about your request and grant access to your gmail account. This can take awhile, because the owner will have to receive your email and reply.
(2) If you would prefer to use your non-gmail account, then you will need to login to that account via Google.
If you are not logged in to any account via Google, Google will prompt you to login.
Enter the email address of your non-gmail account.
(a) If your non-gmail account is already known to Google, then login using your Google password for this account, then you should be able to see the Google Doc.
(b) If your non-gmail account is not already known to Google, then you will the following message:
Sorry, Google doesn’t recognize that email. Create an account using that address?
Click on Create an account
Enter the information that Google requests and click Next
Then you will get the following message:
You’re almost done! Just verify your email address by signing in at yahoo.com.
Once you verify your email address, you’ll be able to access all of Google’s products and services.
Click Verify now
A Popup window should appear that is similar to following:
Click “Agree” to sign in to accounts.google.com using your Yahoo ID and allow sharing of Yahoo info.
Agree and Continue
Go back to the you non-gmail inbox, select the Google share email, click on the document and it will appear
